FDA approves Foundayo (orforglipron), a once-daily GLP-1 pill for weight loss

| Approval

The FDA approved orforglipron as Foundayo for adults with obesity, or overweight with a related condition. It is a daily tablet taken with or without food. In the 72-week ATTAIN-1 trial, people on the highest dose who stayed on treatment lost an average of 12.4% of body weight, versus 0.9% on placebo. Across everyone randomized, the figures were 11.1% versus 2.1%.

Lilly said self-pay prices start at $149 a month for the lowest dose, with other prices depending on insurance.

Worth knowing: Prices and coverage change often. The label lists the warnings, including pancreatitis, gallbladder problems and dehydration.
